What conditions can hyperbaric oxygen therapy treat?
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy can treat a variety of conditions including radiation damage, sudden deafness, non-healing wounds, diabetic wounds, head injuries, and bone infections. There are 14 conditions that are approved by medicare in the US but many more indications found to be effective in international studies. You can read the entire list here.
Is hyperbaric oxygen therapy safe?
Yes, hyperbaric oxygen therapy is a safe and non-invasive treatment, especially when done in our open hard-shell multi-place chambers. Our team of experts ensures that each session is conducted under strict medical supervision. Before you enter the chamber and get authorizations your information is reviewed by our medical team where they check for any contraindications or reasons why other therapies may be complimentary or better at that time.
How long does each therapy session last?
Each hyperbaric oxygen therapy session typically lasts between 60 to 90 minutes, depending on the treatment plan prescribed by our specialists. Depending on your case, other complementing treatments may be applied to before or after a hyperbaric treatment to improve effectiveness of your treatment plan. Depending on your individual case, especially for severe wounds, bone infection and other extremely aggressive conditions upwards of 40 sessions may be reccomended.
What should I expect during a therapy session?
During a session, you sit comfortably in a hyperbaric chamber and breathe pure oxygen. You may experience a sensation similar to what you feel during an airplane ascent, staff is monitoring the entire time to ensure safety and the best experience for you. Our chambers do not restrict your movement or confine you to a small tube like other Hyperbaric Facilities, we use a hard shell multi-place chamber that’s safer and has more room.
Do I have to lay in a tube like an MRI or lay completely still?
We are the only facility in Central Florida with an extra large 12-person multi-place chamber. instead of laying horizontally in a confined area, our patients are seated in the chamber during the treatment with plenty of room for all sizes. This helps us cater to patients with more severe medical conditions where mobility may be limited while also eliminating trips and other accidents from climbing in and out of a horizontal chamber. We designed the safest work-flow with the highest level of comfort, you won’t be feeling claustrophobic and our staff is there to support you every step.
How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions required varies depending on the condition being treated and your individual response to therapy. Our specialists will provide a personalized treatment plan during your initial consultation.
